How long does a 3D product animation take?
Short answer: A simple 3D product turntable usually takes 3–7 working days. A 15–30 second cinematic product animation typically takes 2–4 weeks from approved concept to delivery, and a 60-second launch film with complex simulation can take 4–8 weeks. Having CAD files and fast feedback are the two biggest speed-ups.
Typical timelines
| Project | Typical timeline |
|---|---|
| Product turntable (360°) | 3–7 working days |
| 15–30s social product ad | 2–3 weeks |
| 30–60s cinematic launch film | 3–6 weeks |
| Explainer with mechanisms or cutaways | 3–6 weeks |
| Film with liquids, cloth or heavy simulation | 4–8 weeks |
Where the time goes
- Concept & storyboard (2–5 days): agreeing the story and shots.
- Modelling & materials (2–7 days): faster with CAD files.
- Animation & lighting (1–2 weeks): with previews for feedback.
- Rendering (2–5 days): depends on length and resolution.
- Edit, grade & sound (2–4 days).
How to get it faster
- Send CAD or detailed drawings up front.
- Share 2–3 reference ads you love.
- Give one person final sign-off and reply to previews within a day.

Questions clients ask
Can a 3D animation be done in one week?
A simple turntable or a short loop can. A cinematic ad with several shots usually needs at least two weeks to do properly, especially if the product needs to be modelled from scratch.
What slows a 3D animation project down?
Missing product files, late changes to the concept after animation starts, and slow feedback rounds. Locking the storyboard early saves the most time.
